OCIA refers to the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, a process for adults and children to become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church by receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. It serves as a journey of formation and faith, welcoming both unbaptized individuals and those baptized in other Christian traditions into the Catholic Church, and guiding baptized Catholics in receiving First Communion and Confirmation. The process involves periods of inquiry, study, faith sharing, and participation in various liturgical rites and rituals, preparing individuals to receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
The process is open to all person, regardless of religious background or philosophy, who seeks to live their life in the Catholic Faith.
